Welcome to On The Lookout Atlanta! I’m Chante, and I love to connect folks to worthwhile events, information and people.

About Chante LaGon

With more than 16 years’ experience in all things word-related — from copy editing to MCing — it’s hard to pin down Chante’s primary area of expertise. She started in the media industry while still enrolled at UNC Chapel Hill, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. She was instrumental in developing Chapel Hill’s hip-hop and spoken word scene, hosting and regularly performing in events there and serving as founding editor of Headz: The Subterranean Guide to Hip-Hop Culture.

She’d already immersed herself in North Carolina’s rave scene when she moved to Atlanta in 1998 to work at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in the Editorial and Marketing departments. During that time, she also served as Senior Writer for Lunar Magazine, a site dedicated to electronic music. Her journalism career continued at Creative Loafing, where in her eight years there she oversaw several special sections, the paper’s relaunch in 2010, and held various positions including Managing Editor and Special Projects Director (Marketing).

She served on the board of Eyedrum Art & Music Gallery for eight years, hosted “Air Loaf” (a weekly arts and entertainment segment) on WMLB-AM (1690) for four years, and has helped plan and create some of the best events Atlanta has seen. She’s provided marketing and consulting expertise for clients in industries from television to real estate, publishing to small business.

Along with connecting people and seeing projects come to life, Chante enjoys good music, dancing to it, working out and spending time with friends and family.
